HIGHLIGHTS:

• Minimum three (3) years of applicable experience required
• Associate's Degree in Ultrasound required
• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) required
• Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) in Echocardiography required
• BLS (American Heart Assoc) required
• Schedule: DAYS; M-F: 8am-5pm; rotating wk and split wknd call
• Participates in callback rotation
• Must write, read, comprehend and speak fluent English

MORE INFORMATION:

• To provide high quality ultrasound images of the heart and great vessels for adult patients
• Technical assistance with exercise and non-exercise stress testing
• Essential Functions:
  • Performs high quality two-dimensional ultrasound studies of the heart and great vessels
  • Identifies EKG abnormalities and/or arrthymia
  • Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patients
  • Understands complimenting imaging and/or doppler techniques
  • Demonstrates use of M-Mode technique
  • Estimates severity of valvular insufficiencies
  • Assess blood flow through the heart
  • Uses contrast echocardiography when needed
  • Evaluates left and right ventricular systolic and diastolic functions
  • Recognizes rare, common, simple and complex congenital heart malformations
  • Completes studies according to updated protocols
  • Uses segmental approach for cardiac structures imaging
  • Operates ultrasound equipment proficiently
  • Selects appropriate transducer
  • Obtains and reviews patient history
  • Correlates clinical history with exam
  • Monitors, records, charges and communicates using computerized documentation
  • Prepares and assists with stress echocardiograms
  • Assists with transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE)
  • Maintains monthly correlation studies and statistics
  • Participates in mobile echo/vascular service regionally
  • Assists in stress testing
  • Documents procedures correctly
  • Assesses patients' physical ability
  • Interprets physician's orders
  • Provides patient assessments in crisis situations
  • Displays proficiency in knowing lethal arrhythmias
  • Completes quarterly competency requirements
• Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of patient positioning and breathing techniques
  • Proficient in recognizing abnormalities and artifacts
  • Knowledge of gross and sectional anatomy
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Works proficiently with computers and software systems
