Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for coordinating patient flow at the School Based Health Centers and preparing patients for examination/treatment by provider. Ensure availability of appropriate equipment. Obtain patient histories, record vital signs, conduct required age specific screening per EPSDT guidelines, obtain specimens, escort patients as required.All services and communications are provided in a confidential manner consistent with Syracuse Community Health Confidentiality Policy and Procedure.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associates Degree as a Medical Assistant or completion of a Medical Assistant Certificate program required. Three to six months of relevant experience required. Current Basic Life Support BLS certification. All staff working within the School Base Program must be fingerprinted and receive successful clearance through the New York State Department of Education who will complete criminal background checks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ambulatory - 95%

Sedentary - 5%

Subject to stress and fatigue. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination when working with patients and equipment. Subject to repeated bending, squatting and stooping. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
