Our client’s IP Practice Group is expanding around a superstar, mid-career group Chair and others, and are seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate or Counsel to join their recognized Intellectual Property practice group. The ideal candidate will bring at least seven (7) years of experience spanning IP litigation, transactions, and patent prosecution, with demonstrated expertise in patents, trademarks, and copyrights, to this group. This is a strategic role for someone with a track record of client success, and a clear potential for growth through proactive business development and network referrals.
The ideal candidate will handle complex IP litigation matters in federal court and before agencies such as the PTAB and TTAB, including patent, trademark, and copyright disputes; Conduct and manage U.S. and international patent prosecution, including drafting and responding to office actions and supervising filings; Advise clients on IP strategy, enforcement, licensing, risk mitigation, and portfolio management; Draft, negotiate, and review IP-related agreements such as licensing, technology transfer, joint development, and confidentiality agreements; Support IP diligence and transactional matters in mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
This Sr. Associate or Counsel will collaborate with partners and practice group leadership to further develop client relationships and practice growth. Proven ability to manage matters independently and maintain strong client relationships, required. Superior legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills plus strong business acumen and entrepreneurial mindset, required.
Prior experience in a Big Law or sophisticated midsize firm environment required. Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is highly desirable. A technical degree (e.g., electrical engineering, computer science, chemistry, life sciences) is preferred, especially for candidates focusing on patent matters. Minimum portable book of business of $100K, with clear potential to expand, preferred. Compensation includes salary (245K-270K+) plus reasonable hours-based bonus and excellent benefits package.
